In October 2021, Untappd hosted its first in-person craft beer festival in over two years in San Diego, CA. The homebrewing capital of the country and craft beer destination was the perfect place to drink beers together again in real life. So it’s fitting that San Diego kicked off the app’s top five cities with 237k venue check-ins in 2021.
According to the San Diego Brewers Guild, this Southern California city is home to over 150 craft breweries.
As the birthplace of behemoths such as Stone Brewing and Karl Strauss and smaller phenoms such as Burgeon Beer Company, Pure Project, Societe Brewing Company, plus so many more, San Diego continues to be one of the most famed beer cities in the entire country.
The 10 Most Popular Beers in San Diego, CA - Last 90 Days
Following current trends in American craft beer, the beers that have dominated the San Diego market for the last ninety days pretty much all fall under the IPA umbrella (with the one exception of Stone’s Buenaveza Mexican lager). Five of the top ten most checked-in beers are hazies while the rest landed in either the American IPA or double/imperial IPA categories.
